Action Alert - Federal Funding Cuts

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has sent termination letters to nonprofit providers effective immediately, which could affect roughly $2 billion in funding and force many frontline programs to shut their doors.
Right now, the federal government is terminating hundreds of grants that provide life-saving recovery support, overdose prevention services, and mental health care to communities across Ohio and the United States. These cancelled grants have already been awarded, and the funds were appropriated by Congress with bi-partisan support.
These grants fund services such as:
Overdose prevention and naloxone access
Peer recovery support and housing assistance
Community addiction care and homelessness outreach
Without this funding, hundreds of providers may be unable to continue operations, and families and individuals in recovery could lose access to critical care.
We must act now. Lives are at risk. Contact your members of Congress and urge them to protect and restore federal funding for addiction treatment and behavioral health services.

Suggested message:
"I’m calling to urge the [Congressman/Congresswoman/Senator] to oppose the termination of federal addiction and mental health grants.
These funds support life-saving services like overdose prevention, recovery support, recovery housing, and community-based treatment. Cutting this funding will force providers to close and put lives at risk during an ongoing overdose and mental health crisis.
I ask that the [Representative/Senator Name] work to restore and protect this funding which will effect around 10% to 12% of Ohioans.
Thank you for passing my message along. I appreciate your time.
These services matter to me because ___ [share your connection to recovery, treatment, or your community]."
